"Design@CITY: From isolation to social integration"

HDiogenes NGOandCommonspace Workers Cooperativejoin forces and cooperate in the project "Schedia@CITY: From isolation to social integration" implemented within the framework of the Active citizens fund. 

The two social organizations create a hub of applied social innovation, education and solidarity and jointly form a focus of practical defense of the human rights of our fellow citizens who belong to vulnerable social groups, our fellow human beings who have experienced or are still experiencing social exclusion, the long-term unemployment, homelessness. The actions of the project include from reuse and redesign workshops to workshops around the Social and Solidarity Economy, interactive tours, special discussions on human rights, but also campaigns and advocacy actions regarding the rights of _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_people who are considered "invisible", with themselves playing a leading role in them.

In addition to the opportunities for activation, participation and education, people who are currently being tested take on an important social role, becoming "community leaders", since they themselves will now participate in workshops aimed at school students, members of socially excluded groups, but also in general to the general public.

HerTuesday, July 13, at11:00, Diogenes NGO, commonspace, as well as the participants of the project invite you to the first public presentation of the project at the hub of solidarity and applied social innovation"home plan"(Kolokotroni 56 & Nikiou).

At the event we will present the main goals and actions of the project, as well as introduce the methods of paper reuse and participatory design.

About Diogenes NGO

"Diogenes NGO" is an Urban Non-Profit Company, established in 2010 to support, through a wide range of activities, the efforts of homeless and socially excluded people to join or rejoin the social fabric. The provision of supportive services aimed at combating poverty and social exclusion is the main purpose of "Diogenes NGO".

One of its main social programs is the "plan". This is the only Greek street magazine. It is not sold at the usual press outlets, but exclusively on the streets of the city by our fellow human beings who come from vulnerable population groups, enabling them to secure even a small income with dignity to cover some of their most basic needs. In addition, through a wide range of programs (such as the homeless football team, the "Invisible Paths" social tours, the "art design" environmental program, etc.), it takes care of the activation, empowerment, education, reintegration and, ultimately, the creation of employment prospects for our fellow human beings who experience poverty and social exclusion in extreme forms.

About commonspace

commonspace is an interdisciplinary planning group that has been operating since 2012 as a network of partners who deal with the design of the city and space through a multitude of objects and specialties. Over the years it has been active, it has collaborated with municipalities, regions, state agencies, universities and research centers, educational and charitable institutions, NGOs and private sector enterprises in a series of important public, private and co-financed projects and programs. At the center of her interests is the study of cities, the quality of life in them, social, economic and environmental parameters that affect them and the possibilities for sustainable social and environmental development. It has structured a special methodology related to the Participatory Planning of the public space and seeks to establish the object and its application at different scales.

In addition, the promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy is one of the main statutory purposes of commonspace along with sustainable development, environmental protection and urban revitalization. All commonspace members and key collaborators are involved with K.Al.O., not only through their research interests but also in their daily practice.
