Call for two (2) collaboartors for the project “Green Routes Intelligent Districts” - GRID EUI


GRID integrates advanced digital technologies with smart green infrastructure to mitigate urban heat risk. Urban areas in Southern Europe, such as Kallithea and Moschato-Tavros, face increasing pressures due to climate change, dense urban fabric, and limited green space.

The project develops an integrated, data-driven framework combining participatory processes, environmental monitoring, and green infrastructure interventions.


1st position


Call for a Scientific Associate (Mid-level) – Landscape Architecture & Smart Irrigation Specialist

The workers’ cooperative commonspace is seeking to recruit one (1) Call for a Scientific Associate (Mid-level) – Landscape Architecture & Smart Irrigation Specialist, for the project “Green Routes Intelligent Districts” (GRID, project code: EUI03-236), funded by the European Urban Initiative.


Position Overview

The selected expert will join the project team as a mid-level scientific associate, primarily contributing to:

  • WP7: Materializing the Green Routes Network through Pilot Projects and Urban Strategies in Kalithea andMoschato-Tavros

The role focuses on the technical implementation of irrigation and planting strategies.


Scope of Work

The associate will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of planting and irrigation studies

  • Design and optimisation of irrigation systems (including automated and subsurface systems)

  • Supervision of green infrastructure implementation

  • Contribution to sustainable water management strategies

  • Coordination with multidisciplinary teams


Required Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a senior academic-level profile:

  • Degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field

  • Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience

  • Proven experience green/blue infrastructure, including smart irrigation system design and implementation

  • Experience in technical documentation and project delivery

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments


Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in large-scale urban or hospitality projects

  • Experience with public sector projects

  • Expertise in smart irrigation systems

  • Site supervision experiences


2nd position


Call for a Scientific Associate – Senior Expert in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Nature-based Solutions


The workers’ cooperative commonspace is seeking to recruit one (1) Scientific Associate – Senior Expert Advisor in the field of landscape architecture, horticulture, and Nature-based Solutions, for the project “Green Routes Intelligent Districts” (GRID, project code: EUI03-236), funded by the European Urban Initiative.


Position Overview

The selected expert will join the project team as a senior-level scientific advisor, primarily contributing to:

  • WP7: Materializing the Green Routes Network through Pilot Projects and Urban Strategies in Kalithea andMoschato-Tavros

  • Consulting and support WP6: Development of Green Routes Network through Co-design, Community Engagement and AR/VR Technologies

This is a strategic role focusing on scientific quality, design guidance, and high-level deliverables.


Scope of Work

The expert will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the design and assessment of softscape and urban green interventions

  • Developing planting and ecological strategies for dense urban environments

  • Integrating Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for climate adaptation

  • Contributing to pilot project design and implementation

  • Supporting environmental impact assessment (microclimate, thermal comfort, biodiversity)

  • Producing high-level technical reports, guidelines, and scientific outputs


Required Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a senior academic-level profile:

  • Degree / Joint Master's in Agronomy or related fields

  • PhD in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Agronomy or related fields

  • Extensive senior-level experience in softscape and landscape projects

  • Proven expertise in NbS and climate adaptation strategies

  • Strong research and publication record

  • Experience in research, EU-funded or interdisciplinary projects

  • Ability to produce high-quality scientific and technical deliverables


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in urban pilot projects and green infrastructure, participatory design or citizen science

  • Collaboration with public authorities and municipalities

  • Familiarity with landscape planning and ecological assessment tools
