🌳 We're greening the schoolyard of the 4th Primary School and the 4th & 10th Kindergartens of Chalandri!
Following a pilot participatory design programme, we've now reached the pilot construction phase in part of the schoolyard — full of greenery and cooling materials.
📊 The journey so far, in numbers:
58 workshops with 300 children and 50 adults
1 event and an online consultation platform on the design outcome
1 pilot construction, involving the removal of concrete, laying of water-permeable materials, and planting of greenery
🏗️ Following the construction of this section, the design study for the entire 3,800 m² open, green courtyard space is moving forward.
Among other interventions, the design includes:
Permeable surfaces to support sustainable stormwater management and groundwater recharge
Protection of the trees’ root systems
Installation of amenities and equipment, including wooden shade structures, seating areas, treehouses, and sports equipment
